Why pay more at the dealership? At Greentec Auto, we offer affordable, accessible and reliable hybrid battery replacements at up to 50% less than dealership prices without compromising on quality. Get the best value with expert service, mobile installation, and a warranty you can trust.
Most people buy a Honda Civic Hybrid to save money on gas, maintenance, and in the long run. But what if I told you that that same car could be quietly costing you more money than you think, all because of one component that almost nobody talks about? If your Civic Hybrid isn’t driving like it used to — maybe fuel economy has dropped or you got a warning light on your dash — don’t worry. You’re not alone. It might be your hybrid battery. And that’s something we’ve been fixing every single day for the past 13 years across our 34 locations in the United States.
In this video, I’m going to break down exactly what you need to know about Honda Civic hybrid battery replacement — from how long they last to some signs to watch out for, going over price, warranty, how to make yours go the distance. And on top of that, I’m going to be giving away a $200 discount code for not if, but when your hybrid battery goes bad. But wait — I’m not going to be giving it away at the start, not at the middle, and not at the end of the video. But throughout today’s video, I’m going to be giving you letters. And the first letter is G.
First up, let’s start with pricing. Maybe you’ve already gone to your local dealership and got a quote. And I’ve already got some good news for you. Because here’s the thing that they don’t want you to know — choosing Greentec Auto is going to cost you 30 to 50% less from what they would charge, without compromising quality, warranty, or performance. So let me ask you a question: why pay more when the smarter option is here? The second letter is A.
Next up, let’s go into lifespan. Honda Civic hybrid batteries tend to last anywhere from 8 all the way to 10 plus years, which equals around 150,000 miles. Some owners do get past the 200,000 mile mark, but it really comes down to climate. Saying that, over time all batteries will wear out. We’re about to show all Honda Civic hybrid batteries we offer, covering models from 2003 all the way to 2015. You’ll see differences in year, battery type — which means new or remanufactured — and warranty options from 12 to 36 months.
Let’s go over some signs your Civic Hybrid battery is failing. Number one, a sudden drop in MPG means the battery is losing efficiency. Number two, sluggish acceleration shows the electric motor isn’t performing like before. Number three, a Check IMA System warning light on the dash points to potential battery issues. Number four, shorter electric range means the engine is picking up the slack.
Following up with that, let’s find out how to make your Honda hybrid last longer. Number one, drive your Civic regularly to prevent battery imbalance or drain. Number two, park in the shade, or if you have a garage, always try to park your car inside of there. Number three, accelerate gently to reduce battery strain and keep it cool.
But why should you choose Greentec Auto? Well, listen. Right now, we’re not just an option — we’re an industry leader. There is nobody else with 13 years of experience, 34 locations across the United States, and hundreds of thousands of customers served. And on top of that, there’s nobody else giving you a $200 discount code — and the last letter is H. So click the link below or give us a call, and let’s get you back on the road with confidence.
The way to reset a Honda Civic after we replace the hybrid battery — there are two ways to do it. The main way is just to disconnect the 12-volt battery, which is up under the hood up front. You just take off the negative connector and we normally let it sit for about 5 minutes, and once that happens that typically erases all the codes and clears everything. That way, when the new battery is in, the car knows that all the problems are fixed and that it can start up like usual.
The second option is — everyone has a code reader now — you can have a code reader hooked up to it and you can also manually erase them. Sometimes you have to do both anyway, but either option works. It just depends on what tools you have, or if you need to use a code reader to erase it, or if you can just get them all to clear with just disconnecting the battery.
One thing to remember on the Honda Civics is that when you reset them, there’s a radio code that you have to put in. A lot of times that’s taped on the side of the glove box in the car, a lot of times it’s in the owner’s manual, and there’s a code that you type in on the radio to get the radio to work. That’s a key thing that you have to remember to enter when you’re changing the battery. It’s not necessarily specific to Honda, but I would say it’s specific to this type of situation that we’re doing. So when you’re swapping the battery, you’re disconnecting all types of different connections and there are different types of computers that are working with those components. That’s why disconnecting the 12-volt is important — so that way it resets everything within the car. A lot of the hybrids have a similar thing, but it is something that you want to do on a Honda Civic.
There are a couple of signs that you could look for when the battery is not performing like it should. So they have warning lights too — they call it IMA. It’s an orange IMA light that’ll come up on the dash. When that comes on, typically there is already a problem. So at that point you’d want to go get a scan and get the codes read and see what the issue is once you get it diagnosed.
But another sign is the car can start driving sluggish. The Hondas on the dash have a little meter that shows when the battery is charging or when the battery is assisting. So when that stops working as much as it should, or as much as you feel it should, the car starts driving sluggish. You notice a drop in your MPGs — when you’re getting on the highway or when you’re driving around town and it just doesn’t have as much power and get-up-and-go as usual, that would be a sign of possibly a dying battery and you might want to look at getting it replaced.
The Honda Civic battery replacement costs anywhere between around $900 and around $1,500, depending on which battery type you choose. We have three different options for those batteries. The top option being our brand new cells — that one has brand new cells and comes with a 48-month warranty. Then we have our most affordable option, which is the $899 battery pack, and those are just remanufactured cells.
So with the remanufactured cells of the Honda Civics, we use old used cores from other Honda Civic batteries that we’ve tested and we’ve ranked them by voltage, capacity, rate of discharge. Once all that’s been done and we pick a good battery, then we can use that for a remanufactured option.
Depending on what you want to do with your vehicle is how we would decide what to offer you when it comes to what battery you want to purchase from us. So if you’re going to keep the vehicle for an extended amount of time, or maybe you plan on selling the vehicle and you want someone that you’re going to sell the vehicle to to have that peace of mind — like hey, the battery was changed, it has this amount of warranty, 48 months — then we would offer you the new cell. If it’s just a car that you don’t drive that often and the battery’s just having issues and you just want to get it replaced so that way you can take it back and forth to wherever you need to go, yeah, maybe the remanufactured option for $900 — you know, you can’t beat that price, it’s not that much. So that would be the option that we recommend.
But all of our warranties are transferable, so no matter which one you buy, you can transfer it from owner to owner one time at the point of sale.
The cost of shipping to you is included with your purchase. This offer is good for the entire continental United States. Add $200 for shipping to a residential address. Let Greentec Auto make it simple to return your core to us, ask about our reduced return shipping rates.
A refundable “core deposit” of $500.00 will be added to your order at checkout. Once we receive your old battery, we will refund the core deposit back to you minus the cost of return shipping. Cores must be returned within 45 days of purchase. This applies to shipping orders only. In all other circumstances, the core will be picked up at the time of service, no deposit required.
Once your new hybrid battery has arrived, put the core battery back into the same packaging your battery arrived in. As soon as we receive your core battery, we will refund the core deposit back to you. It’s that easy.

Early detection of battery issues will rescue you from unexpected breakdowns and expensive repairs. Poor gas mileage is an indication that the hybrid battery pack is no longer assisting the engine, so that the hybrid vehicle will consume more gasoline. Sluggish acceleration or stalling when shifting to electric mode is another warning indicator that the old battery is on its way out. If warning lights on the dashboard, such as the “IMA System Warning” and “Check Hybrid System” appear on the screen, then it is probably time to replace your Honda hybrid vehicle’s battery pack.
Over-charging or loss of charge is also a sign of battery issues. If the vehicle is difficult to start or the vehicle’s performance is not predictable, then the old hybrid battery pack is the causative factor. Getting these signs repaired ahead of time will protect the hybrid vehicle system from additional stress and avoid costly repairs down the road.
A failing hybrid battery pack will depreciate the resale value of the hybrid car. If you plan to sell your Honda hybrid vehicle, replacing the old battery with a new hybrid battery before listing it can increase the vehicle’s marketability and help you secure a better price. Many buyers factor battery pack replacement costs into their decision, so ensuring the vehicle has a reliable replacement battery makes it a more attractive option.
If you prefer to keep your hybrid car, a hybrid battery replacement can give you up to 10 additional years of battery life without any compromise on fuel efficiency and performance. A replacement of a hybrid battery pack is a cost-effective solution compared to purchasing a new vehicle, and it allows you to enjoy the benefits of hybrid technology for the years to come.

Above, we’ve listed some of the most common hybrid error codes. Keep in mind that the check engine light must be onfor major issues to be detected. If your vehicle is experiencing hybrid battery failure, dealerships often charge thousands of dollars for a replacement typically with a limited warranty.
At Greentec Auto, we offer a cost-effective alternative, providing high-quality hybrid battery replacements at a fraction of the price. Plus, we back our batteries with a comprehensive warranty to give you peace of mind.
