CUSTOMER FEEDBACK

Trusted by Hybrid & EV Owners Nationwide

Found them through internet search. Requested mobile installation. They called back within 2 hours to set up an appointment. Turns out they had a shop near me, which saved me 50% on installation cost. Took about an hour.

Prompt, quick, professional service. So much cheaper than getting another car. I would highly recommend their service to anyone who needs a hybrid battery replacement.

I was so grateful that my friend told me about this company. What I thought was going to be a $8,500.00 repair, as quoted to me by my regular auto shop, turned into a $2,400.00 repair. I will be forever grateful to Greentec EV & Hybrid Batteries. Thank you guys so much. Their customer service was excellent over the phone, and my experience with the technician that came to my home to do the repair was also excellent. I can’t thank you all enough. You really saved me!!

The hybrid battery on my prius started dying and I managed to drove to the shop so I left it with them and told me they’ll finish it by tomorrow at 11am but they done it a lot earlier and faster than I expected. The car was running great again with the purchased of 12 month warranty remanufactured. I’m highly satisfied with the work they’ve done and I recommended them big time.

Choose Your Battery Solution

New 8.0 Amp High-Performance Cells

Our premium battery uses brand-new 8.0 Amp cells that outperform the factory specification. You’ll get enhanced electric assist, improved fuel economy, and a longer-lasting battery that’s built to handle daily driving demands. Backed by 36 months of warranty protection with unlimited mileage.

Remanufactured Battery Pack

This professionally rebuilt battery restores your Civic Hybrid to original performance. We test every cell, replace weak modules, and balance the entire pack to OEM standards. A smart budget choice that comes with 12 months of warranty coverage and unlimited mileage.

First-Generation Civic Hybrid Coverage

Your Vehicle Available Options
2003 Honda Civic Hybrid Battery New 8.0 Amp / Remanufactured
2004 Honda Civic Hybrid Battery New 8.0 Amp / Remanufactured
2005 Honda Civic Hybrid Battery New 8.0 Amp / Remanufactured

Both battery options work perfectly with all three model years from the first generation. Whether your 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid has been with you since new or you recently bought a used 2005 model, we have the right replacement at the right price.

Understanding the IMA System

Your Civic Hybrid uses Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) technology — a thin electric motor sandwiched between the engine and transmission. The battery pack sits behind the rear seat, powering this motor to assist the gas engine during acceleration and capture energy when you brake.

When the battery in your 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid starts failing, you’ll experience:

  • The IMA warning light staying illuminated
  • Noticeably reduced acceleration power
  • Fuel economy dropping from the usual 40+ MPG to mid-30s
  • Battery gauge showing constant low charge
  • Auto-stop feature no longer working

Replacing the battery fixes all these issues and brings your hybrid system back to full operation.

Why 8.0 Amp Cells Perform Better

The original 2003-2005 Civic Hybrid batteries used 6.5 Amp cells. Our upgraded 8.0 Amp option provides 23% more capacity per cell, which means:

  • Extended cycle life — the battery lasts longer before needing replacement
  • Better performance under load — stronger assist during highway merging and hill climbing
  • Improved temperature resistance — handles heat better in summer months
  • More consistent voltage — maintains performance even as the battery ages

If you’re keeping your 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid for another 5+ years, the upgraded cells justify the small price difference.

Dealerships vs. Greentec Auto

Honda dealerships rarely stock batteries for 2003-2005 Civic Hybrids anymore. When they do, expect quotes of $3,000-$4,000 or higher. Many dealers would rather see you trade in your old Civic than support it with affordable repairs.

Our pricing tells a different story:

  • Remanufactured battery: $999 (save over 70% vs. dealer pricing)
  • New 8.0 Amp upgrade: $1,195 (still 60%+ savings)

Both options cost less than a few months of car payments on a newer vehicle, and they restore your paid-off Civic to reliable daily transportation.

Mobile Service Brings Installation to You

Why deal with towing or losing a day at the repair shop? Our mobile installation service sends trained technicians to your driveway, workplace, or anywhere that’s convenient.

The installation takes about 2-3 hours. We’ll run diagnostics on your IMA system, safely remove the old battery pack, install your new battery, calibrate the system, and verify everything operates correctly. Your old battery gets recycled responsibly at no extra charge.

Should You Replace or Trade In?

This question matters, especially with 20-year-old cars. Here’s the reality: a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid with a dead battery might get $800-$1,500 in trade-in value. But spend $999-$1,195 on a new battery, and that same car is worth $3,500-$5,500 in the private market.

More importantly, you’ll keep a reliable, fuel-efficient car that costs almost nothing to insure and gets 40+ MPG. Compare that to monthly payments on a newer car, and battery replacement makes clear financial sense.

Warranty Coverage That Protects You

Your warranty depends on which battery you choose:

  • New 8.0 Amp Cells: 36 months, unlimited mileage
  • Remanufactured Pack: 12 months, unlimited mileage

Both options include unlimited mileage — drive across the country if you want, the warranty stays in effect. Complete terms are available on our Warranty Page.

Common Signs You Need a New Battery

Watch for these warning signs in your 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid or any other year from this generation:

  • IMA warning light won’t turn off
  • Battery charge bars consistently show low (2-3 bars)
  • Engine runs constantly even during gentle driving
  • Noticeable loss of power when accelerating
  • MPG has dropped significantly from normal levels
  • Auto-stop doesn’t engage at stoplights anymore

These symptoms indicate your battery is worn out and needs replacement soon. The longer you wait, the more strain you put on other hybrid components.

Know Your Hybrid’s Battery Health Without Breaking the Bank

If you notice warning lights on your dashboard, don’t rush to the dealership for an expensive diagnostic report. Many local auto parts stores can scan your vehicle and provide error codes for free—just ask them to run a quick scan with a diagnostic tool.

Above, we’ve listed some of the most common hybrid error codes. Keep in mind that the check engine light must be onfor major issues to be detected. If your vehicle is experiencing hybrid battery failure, dealerships often charge thousands of dollars for a replacement—typically with a limited warranty.

At Greentec Auto, we offer a cost-effective alternative, providing high-quality hybrid battery replacements at a fraction of the price. Plus, we back our batteries with a comprehensive warranty to give you peace of mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our remanufactured battery is currently on sale for $999 (from $1,250), and our upgraded new cell battery is $1,195 (from $1,995). Both options cost significantly less than dealership pricing of $3,000-$4,000 when available.

The remanufactured battery restores factory performance at the lowest cost with 12 months of coverage. The new 8.0 Amp battery uses higher-capacity cells for better longevity and performance with 36 months of warranty protection.

Remanufactured batteries typically provide 3-5 years of service. The upgraded 8.0 Amp battery with new cells usually lasts 6-8 years due to superior cell quality and capacity.

If the rest of your car is in decent shape, absolutely. You’ll spend less on the battery than the value it adds to your car, and you’ll keep a paid-off vehicle that delivers excellent fuel economy.

We don’t recommend it. Hybrid batteries operate at high voltage and require specialized tools and safety knowledge. Our mobile service handles installation safely at your location.
