CUSTOMER FEEDBACK

Trusted by Hybrid & EV Owners Nationwide

Found them through internet search. Requested mobile installation. They called back within 2 hours to set up an appointment. Turns out they had a shop near me, which saved me 50% on installation cost. Took about an hour.

Prompt, quick, professional service. So much cheaper than getting another car. I would highly recommend their service to anyone who needs a hybrid battery replacement.

I was so grateful that my friend told me about this company. What I thought was going to be a $8,500.00 repair, as quoted to me by my regular auto shop, turned into a $2,400.00 repair. I will be forever grateful to Greentec EV & Hybrid Batteries. Thank you guys so much. Their customer service was excellent over the phone, and my experience with the technician that came to my home to do the repair was also excellent. I can’t thank you all enough. You really saved me!!

Four Battery Options for Every Need and Budget

We understand that every Insight owner has different priorities. That’s why we offer multiple battery solutions, each tested and backed by warranty protection:

Lithium Upgrade – Premium Performance ($2,899)

This is a complete system upgrade that replaces your aging NiMH battery with modern lithium technology. 8.0 Amp High-Capacity Cells – Enhanced NiMH ($2,095)

Our premium NiMH option uses higher-capacity 8.0 Amp cells that outlast and outperform the original 6.5 Amp configuration. If you want to stick with the original battery chemistry but get better longevity and performance, this is your best choice. Includes a 36-month warranty with unlimited mileage.

Remanufactured Battery Pack – Reliable Budget Option ($1,395)

Each cell is tested and balanced, weak modules are replaced, and the entire pack is reconditioned to OEM specs. Perfect for budget-conscious owners who want reliable performance. Backed by a 12-month warranty.

Lithium Conversion Pack – DIY Upgrade ($900)

For experienced DIYers and mechanics, this conversion pack includes everything you need to upgrade your Insight to lithium power. You’ll handle the installation yourself, but you’ll save significantly on labor costs while getting the performance benefits of lithium technology.

  • 2004 Honda Insight Battery Replacement
  • 2005 Honda Insight Battery Replacement

Whether you’ve got a 2000 model that’s been with you since the beginning or a 2006 that’s just hitting the replacement window, we have multiple options that fit your needs.

Understanding Honda Insight Battery Replacement Cost

The Honda Insight battery replacement cost varies depending on which solution you choose and where you go. Here’s what you need to know:

Dealerships often quote $3,500-$5,000+ for a new Honda Insight hybrid battery replacement. That’s if they even stock them anymore — many dealers stopped supporting first-generation Insights years ago.

At Greentec Auto, you have options:

  • Remanufactured: $1,395 (saves you over 60% vs. dealer pricing)
  • High-capacity upgrade: $2,095 (better performance, still cheaper than dealers)
  • Lithium upgrade: $2,899 (premium performance at competitive pricing)

A 2003 Honda Insight battery replacement costs the same as a 2001 or 2005 — we keep pricing consistent across all years for the same battery type.

Why Upgrade to Lithium?

The original Honda Insight used NiMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride) battery technology, which was cutting-edge in 2000 but has since been surpassed by lithium. Here’s why many Insight owners are making the switch:

  • Better heat tolerance — lithium batteries handle hot weather much better than NiMH
  • Lighter weight — reduces overall vehicle weight for better efficiency
  • Longer lifespan — lithium typically outlasts NiMH by several years
  • Improved performance — stronger electric assist and better regenerative braking
  • Faster charging — quicker return to full charge during driving

If you live in a warm climate or want the best possible performance from your 2004 Honda Insight battery, lithium is worth serious consideration.

Mobile Installation Available

Our mobile installation service brings certified technicians to your location for professional battery replacement. We’ll install your new Honda Insight hybrid battery in your driveway or workplace — no need to tow your car or wait at a shop.

Installation typically takes 2-3 hours depending on the battery type. We test your hybrid system before and after installation, calibrate everything properly, and handle eco-friendly recycling of your old battery.

Prefer a shop environment? We also have locations across the U.S. where you can schedule installation.

Keep Your Insight Running or Sell It?

First-generation Honda Insights have become collector items among hypermiling enthusiasts. These cars regularly achieve 60-70 MPG when properly maintained, making them incredibly valuable to the right buyer.

A 2002 Honda Insight with a dead battery might sell for $1,500-$2,500. But with a new battery installed, that same car is worth $5,000-$8,000 or more — especially if you opt for the lithium upgrade that makes it even more desirable.

The math is simple: spending $1,395-$2,899 on a battery replacement adds more value to your car than you’ll spend on the repair. Plus, you keep driving one of the most fuel-efficient cars ever made.

Warranty Coverage for Every Battery Type

Each Honda Insight battery option comes with warranty protection:

  • Lithium Upgrade: 36 months, unlimited mileage
  • 8.0 Amp High-Capacity: 36 months, unlimited mileage
  • Remanufactured Pack: 12 months, unlimited mileage
  • Lithium Conversion Pack: DIY installation (30-day limited warranty)

All warranties cover defects and performance issues. Drive as much as you want — unlimited mileage means you’re fully protected.

Know Your Hybrid’s Battery Health Without Breaking the Bank

If you notice warning lights on your dashboard, don’t rush to the dealership for an expensive diagnostic report. Many local auto parts stores can scan your vehicle and provide error codes for free—just ask them to run a quick scan with a diagnostic tool.

Above, we’ve listed some of the most common hybrid error codes. Keep in mind that the check engine light must be onfor major issues to be detected. If your vehicle is experiencing hybrid battery failure, dealerships often charge thousands of dollars for a replacement—typically with a limited warranty.

At Greentec Auto, we offer a cost-effective alternative, providing high-quality hybrid battery replacements at a fraction of the price. Plus, we back our batteries with a comprehensive warranty to give you peace of mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hybrid and EV error codes are diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) triggered by the vehicle’s onboard computer when it detects a problem with components like the hybrid battery, inverter, or high-voltage system. Common hybrid battery codes include P0A80 (Replace Hybrid Battery Pack) and P0A7F (Hybrid Battery Pack Deterioration). These codes help pinpoint issues in hybrid and electric vehicles and are essential in identifying when a hybrid battery replacement may be needed. We’ve dedicated a page where you can find different Error Codes, what they mean, what the causes are, and their symptoms.
Signs you may need a hybrid battery replacement include decreased fuel efficiency, warning lights or hybrid error codes (like P0A80), reduced electric driving range, sluggish acceleration, and unusual fan noises. If you’re noticing these symptoms in your hybrid or EV, it’s best to schedule a high-voltage battery diagnostic with a trusted specialist like Greentec Auto.
Driving with a hybrid battery error code like P0A80 or P0A7F can lead to reduced performance, lower fuel economy, and further damage to the vehicle’s electrical systems. While your hybrid or electric vehicle might still operate on the gasoline engine, it’s not recommended. A professional hybrid battery diagnostic can confirm if a battery replacement is necessary to restore full performance.
The cost of a hybrid battery replacement or EV battery replacement varies depending on the make, model, and battery type. On average, hybrid battery replacements range from $1,500 to $4,000, while electric vehicle battery replacements can cost between $5,000 and $15,000 or more. Greentec Auto offers affordable pricing on remanufactured and new hybrid batteries with installation options and warranty coverage.
