We just got to BMW right now. They asked us to come and pick up some hybrid and EV batteries they had laying around.
A lot of people ask what happens to these hybrid and EV batteries after they’ve had their life on the road. But instead of just telling you, let’s go show you what actually happens.
So now we’re actually loading the batteries inside of the truck. First, we do our safety check to make sure there are no wires or hazardous things that could cause a fire.
Once we do that check, we load them inside of the truck.
But then that sparks the next question: once we load them up and bring them to the shop, what happens at that point?
Well, let’s go see.
So, we have all the batteries at the shop right now. But here’s where the real work starts.
This is an example of a battery that we have right here. What we’re going to do is disassemble this whole battery pack down to the module level and the electrical component level.
Once we do that, we’re going to see what inside of the battery pack itself can be remanufactured and used to build a new battery in the future.
Things that can’t be reused or remanufactured are going to be sent to Greentec Recycling.
We’re going to recycle the batteries inside of the pack to recover valuable materials that can be used to build the next generation of batteries.
So, that’s the process of Greentec Recycling.
